Week 9 Waiver Targets

Every week waivers shock you with a handful of guys you would have never thought to pick up before. Here are our favorites for this week!

Quarterbacks

Cam Newton: Cam has been STRUGGLING and has been dropped to waivers in a # of leagues. It's a risk for sure, but the Jets run defense is brutal and Cam should be able to bounce back against this bad team. They are bottom 10 in the league against QBs and with Cam's rushing ability he should be able to get at least 20+ points.

Derek Carr: Carr struggled a bit in a windy game vs the Browns. However, he should be able to get back on track against the Chargers as their secondary has struggled mightily the past few weeks. Carr has been a very consistent QB this season and this should be a bounce-back game. Pick him up if he was dropped in your league.

Other Players to Consider: Nick Foles had a pretty solid game against the Saints and now he gets the Titans defense, who have been a very favorable matchup for opposing QBs. Drew Lock had his best game of the season against the Chargers throwing 3 TD passes and now gets the Falcons secondary, he's worth a look.

Running Backs

Matt Breida: Myles Gaskin has been ruled out for the next 3 weeks due to an MCL sprain which should bring an uptick on the 2 running backs who were signed in the offseason. With that being said even though Jordan Howard saw the endzone in each of the first 3 weeks Breida made the most of his touches and should be a vital part of this offense and look at often for rookie quarterback Tua.

Damien Harris: It is hard to feel great starting any New England player at the moment, but Harris has been somewhat of a bright spot. He has had two games over 100 yards so far this season so you know the ability to run is there you just have to hope the number of targets he gets through the air increases compared to the last couple of weeks.

Nyheim Hines: Nyheim Hines had 2 TDs last week and a couple of acrobatic flips to pair with them. With Jonathan Taylor a bit banged up, Hines will be the clear pass catcher on this offense. Heading into a matchup with the Ravens, you would expect the Colts to have to throw throughout this game and Hines should have a pretty solid floor in that regard. Just don't bank on another 2 TD performance.

Other Players to Consider: Jordan Wilkins may find himself with a bigger opportunity this week Johnathon Taylor misses any time due to an ankle injury or is limited coming into Week 9. Wilkins had 20 touches in Week 8 and like his running back partner Hines, found himself getting a touchdown as well.

Wide Receivers

Corey Davis: The only thing holding back Corey Davis from being considered an elite fantasy option right now is his name and track record. We've seen him have the big games, but for most of his career, he has lacked consistency. However, in 5 games this season he has 39 targets for 29 catches for 369 yards and 3 Touchdowns. If you multiply that by 3 in 15 games Davis would have nearly 90 catches 1100 yards and 9 touchdowns. In every game he has played this season, he has had double-digit fantasy points and continues to produce. Until proven otherwise, pick him up and plug him into your lineups.

Marvin Jones: Jones had been non-existent up until these last couple of weeks and now with Kenny Golladay expected to miss Week 9, Jones could see an extreme uptick in volume. Jones has scored at least 13 points in the last two games while also seeing 13 targets in his last two. The Vikings ranked 2nd in points allowed to wide receivers and with Marvin Jones being this weeks number 1 on the Lions he could be a valuable addition to your roster.

Allen Lazard: Lazard has a chance to come off of IR for Thursday's game against the 49ers. He is worth a pick up if someone let him fall to waivers in your league. If not Thursday, he will be back on November 15th and should be a viable flex option the rest of the way. Go grab him.

Other Players to Consider: Danny Amendola has been okay with Golladay out earlier in the season, but he should be more involved as the Lions defense continues to struggle. They're going to be down in more games than they are up and Amendola should have a solid floor as long as Golladay misses time. Darnell Mooney has some upside on the Bears as Foles keeps looking to him as a deep target. Randall Cobb has 10+ points in 5 of 7 games this season and will continue to be on our waiver adds until he is picked up in more leagues.

Tight Ends

Jordan Reed: With Kittle now done for the year, Jordan Reed has a chance to come off of IR and be a solid TE option for Nick Mullens to rely on. We know he himself has had his fair share of injuries, but if he can manage to play through the rest of this season, he should have top 10 TE upside.

Logan Thomas: We mentioned him before the bye week as someone to stash, a week later he is still out there in a lot of leagues, so if you're looking for someone to solve your TE issues, Logan Thomas may be the answer with Allen at the helm. Allen made Ian Thomas a decent TE option for fantasy last season and has made Thomas look pretty good in a few games this season.

Trey Burton: Trey found the endzone again for the Colts this past weekend. The only downside is that Jack Doyle also found the endzone this past week. They are finding creative ways to keep Burton involved so he has the most upside in this tight end group, he still just maybe TD dependent at this point like a lot of tight ends.

Other Names to Consider: Jordan Akins was pretty solid until getting a concussion while simultaneously hurting his ankle. While he was out, teammate Darren Fells stepped in and put up some solid numbers. I think Akins being back this week will take back the job, but we still need a bit more clarity overall. Robert Tonyan got involved again for the Packers this past week. Some frustrated Tonyan owners dropped him, but he's still worth a look if he was dropped in your league.
